Restoring an old home to its original beauty and converting it into a gracious tea parlor had been a dream of owner Laura Kanitra’s for many years. From the moment her mother began spooning tea into young Laura’s glass of milk, she was captivated by the leisure and charm of tea. This early interest blossomed during Laura’s time as a flight attendant, a position that frequently brought her to London where she embraced the tradition and formality of afternoon tea.

Life’s journey eventually took Laura to Greensboro where she found the charming and elegant historic home she had been looking for. She and her husband spent over a year painstakingly restoring this home to its original splendor, down to the finest detail.

Her dream was realized in January 2009 when she and her team opened The Potted Geranium Tea Parlor. The “Tea Team”, as they loving refer to themselves, consists of the Laura, Carol, Linda and Chef Rebecca. Their talents have combined to produce an elegant and unique venue, exquisite food and gracious service as this team shares an unwavering standard of excellence.

Lovely gardens and grounds frame this beautiful antebellum home built in the early 1840’s. The service is English bone china and the rooms are filled with stunning antiques. The atmosphere is tranquil and relaxing, letting you leave the cares of the day behind. Our guests can enjoy a variety of delicious, homemade lunch items and English afternoon tea services in any of our six beautiful tea rooms. Outdoor seating on the charming screened porch is also available.
